A 23-year-old man was shot in the thigh when he got into an argument with someone Saturday afternoon in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Just after 4 p.m., he was outside with a group of people in the 8700 block of South Escanaba when he and another person got into a verbal altercation, police News Affairs Officer Nicole Trainor said.

The other person pulled out a gun and shot him in the left thigh, Trainor said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
