Three men shot in Austin

Three men were shot Sunday morning in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened in the 4800 block of West Van Buren at 5:10 a.m., police said.

A 32-year-old man was shot in the right forearm and was treated by paramedics at the scene, but refused additional medical treatment.

A 24-year-old man was shot twice in the armpit and walked into Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

A third man, 27, suffered a graze wound to the left foot and walked into West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. He was listed in good condition.

Police said all three victims are documented gang members and aren’t cooperating with investigators.

The suspect’s son witnessed the shooting of at least five relatives, according to Joliet police reports obtained through a public records request. The reports also indicate the boy’s mother was more deeply involved in the case than first thought.
