SHARE Police warn of armed carjackings on West Side

Police are warning West Side residents of several carjackings in the last month in the North Lawndale and Garfield Park neighborhoods.

At least one suspect, armed with a handgun, uses force to take victims’ vehicles, according to the community alert from Area North detectives.

The carjackings happened:

-in the 3900 block of West Roosevelt about 10:45 p.m. on July 13;

-in the 4100 block of West Gladys Avenue about 10 a.m. on July 23;

-in the 4300 block of West Lexington about 12:30 a.m. on July 31;

-and in the 3600 block of West Roosevelt about 7:55 am. on July 23.

Residents are advised to remain calm if confronted by an assailant and never to pursue the suspects.
