Gary, Ind. police are questioning one person after a shooting that stemmed from a fight left one man dead and another injured early Sunday.

Officers responded about 2:45 a.m. to the 700 block of Broadway and found 22-year-old Untonise Harper with a gunshot wound, according to Gary police Lt. Thomas Pawlack and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Harper, 2300 block of Georgia Street in Gary, was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he later died, authorities said.

A 21-year-old man who was shot in the arm during the same incident — which started with a fight — later showed up to Methodist, where he was treated and released, Pawlack said.

As of Sunday morning, investigators were questioning a male of an unknown age, Pawlack said.
