Authorities have identified a 48-year-old Plainfield man who died in a crash in southwest suburban Plainfield Friday evening.

He was at the wheel of a “race car style” Chevrolet Camaro heading eastbound about 7 p.m. on 127th Street near Elizabeth Drive when the car went off the roadway and hit several fixed objects, according to Plainfield police.

The man, identified on Sunday as Joseph G. Stiles, was ejected from the Camaro, police said.

Emergency crews took him to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he later died.

Traffic in the area was blocked for about five hours as officials investigated.
