A teenage boy was grazed by a bullet in a drive-by shooting early Thursday in the Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood.

The 17-year-old was standing on the corner in the 3000 block of North California about 1:10 a.m. when a white SUV drove past and someone inside fired at him, police said.

The boy suffered a graze wound to the head, and his condition was stabilized at Norwegian American Hospital, police said.

The shooting happened about 10:40 p.m. near Chicago Avenue and State Street. Fire officials said the eight wounded were taken to hospitals in serious to critical condition.
