INDIANAPOLIS — Rookie safety Adrian Amos did exactly what the Bears’ defensive coaches want in the Bears’ 23-11 exhibition win against the Colts on Saturday night.
Amost closed fast on the ball carrier and struck with violence. It didn’t matter if the receiver was Colts veteran Andre Johnson.
“I try to work on my angles and work on tackling,” Amos said of his first tackle as a member of the starting defense. “It’s just coming out and trying to execute and trying to contribute to the defense.”
Amos was credited with three tackles in 21 snaps against the Colts. He said he reacted quickly on plays, but he wasn’t getting ahead of himself in his competition with Brock Vereen and Ryan Mundy.
“It went OK,” Amos said. “It’s something to improve on. … As camp goes on, I’m becoming more and more comfortable.”
