Two stars from two of the biggest recent film franchises — Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence — are separately embarking on intriguing new movie projects.

“Twilight” mainstay Pattinson will star as an astronaut in the future in an as-yet-untitled movie set outside the borders of our own solar system. It will be the first English-language film directed by French filmmaker Claire Denis,also the co-writer. Production is planned for late 2015 or early ’16.

Before all that, Pattinson next will be seen on the big screen in in director Anton Corbin’s “Life” — a story about the friendship between Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean.

•As for “The Hunger Games” star Lawrence, she and “Trainwreck” star Amy Schumer are teaming up to co-write a screenplay for a film in which they would play sisters. In an interview with the New York Times, Lawrence said, “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.” No word on any other plot details.The two actresses recently became good pals and vacationed together this summer. In the Times interview, Lawrence explained, “I emailed her after I saw ‘Trainwreck’and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you.’ … We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting,” then obviously vacationing and screenwriting together.

Lawrence also indicated she would be spending time in Chicago working with Schumer and the comedian’s sister, Kim, in the writing process.
