Motorcyclist critically hurt in Ingleside crash

A motorcyclist was critically hurt in a crash Friday afternoon in northwest suburban Ingleside.

The crash happened at Route 59 and North Wilson Road in Ingleside about 4:45 p.m., according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

A 1985 Santee Custom Motorcycle was heading eastbound on Route 59 approaching Wilson when a 2002 Jeep Liberty heading in the opposite direction on Route 59 and trying to turn south onto Wilson struck the motorcycle, police said.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry with minor injuries, and was treated and released.

The sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit is looking into the crash.
