The Cubs honored Jake Arrieta before the game against the Cincinnati Reds, but when one Cubs hero walked off the field, American heroes walked onto the field to throw out the first pitch.

Members of the United States Women’s National Team Julie Johnston, Lori Chalupny and Christen Press threw out the first pitch to Matt Szczur, Dexter Fowler and Justin Grimm on Monday. The women also posed with the Gold Cup in front of home plate at Wrigley Field.

Johnston, Chalupny and Press also play for the Chicago Red Stars. And the three U.S. soccer players threw out the first pitch at U.S. Cellular last week.

The World Cup trophy must be bad luck for Chicago baseball teams because when the cup was at both Wrigley Field and U.S. Cellular, the home team lost.
