Emergency crews rescued a man from a burning car after it crashed on Interstate 80 in the south suburbs early Wednesday.

About 2 a.m., the car was heading eastbound on I-80 near the Interstate 57 interchange in unincorporated Bremen Township when it smashed into a guard rail, according to Illinois State Police.

The car caught fire and authorities pulled out the man, whose exact age wasn’t available, state police said.

He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
