A man was shot and seriously wounded in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side Wednesday evening.

About 6:40 p.m., the 20-year-old was shot in the face and chest by another male in the 7700 block of South Carpenter police said. It was not immediately known if the two knew each other.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.
