Man, 48, shot in Chatham

A man was shot in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side early Friday.

About 12:45 a.m., the 48-year-old was standing with a group of people in the 8800 block of South Cottage Grove when a male, armed with a handgun, walked up and shot him in the buttocks, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
