The ongoing police investigation into Blackhawks star Patrick Kane in Hamburg, N.Y., could make for a tough decision for EA Sports.

The video game company announced in June that Kane and teammate Jonathan Toews were on its “NHL16″cover.

Kane has not been charged with any crime.

But the current situation has people wondering if EA can or will pull the cover if anything comes of the investigation. The company already has taken orders for the game, which is set for release on Sept. 15.

In 2004, EA Sports changed its cover twice when both Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley had legal problems. They settled on Joe Sakic, but not before some games with Heatley were shipped.

Kane appeared on the cover of “NHL10.”
