A 25-year-old man died Friday, one day after he was shot while riding in a vehicle in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.
Wesley Kelly was the backseat passenger in a vehicle heading westbound on 67th Street near Michigan Avenue at 9:10 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots at the vehicle, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Kelly, of the 6200 block of South Evans, was shot in the head and driven to St. Bernard Hospital, authorities said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 6:06 p.m. Friday.
A police source said the victim was a documented gang member.
