A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Wednesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to Chicago Police.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot at 12:20 a.m. in the 2700 West Lexington found him unresponsive on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the head, chest and groin, police said.

He was dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality.

A police source the man killed was a documented gang member.
