A man tried to lure two 10-year-old girls into an SUV Thursday afternoon in north suburban Glenview.

The girls were walking from a school bus stop near Huber and Knollwood lanes in unincorporated Glenview about 3 p.m. Aug. 27 when a man approached them in a four-door Chevrolet Avalanche, the Cook County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

He waved at one of the girls to come toward him, but she didn’t approach the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. He then drove toward the second girl and motioned for her to come over, but she also refused.

The man then drove off, turned left and continued westbound on Knollwood, the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect is described as a thin, bald white man in his 20s or 30s with a trimmed reddish beard, the sheriff’s office said. The SUV was described as silver and shiny with black wheels, blackwall tires and an open area in the back.

Anyone with information about the incident or the driver is asked to contact sheriff’s police at (847) 635-1188.
