A man was shot Wednesday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 18-year-old was on a porch in the 5300 block of South Hermitage at 10:57 p.m. when someone approached and fired at him, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

The man was shot in the back, finger and buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Gaines said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
