The parents of a South Shore infant who died Thursday morning are being investigated for neglect.

Yendoukoua Lare, a 3-month-old boy, was found unresponsive about 6 a.m. at his home in the 7800 block of South Yates, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:24 a.m., authorities said. An autopsy on Friday was inconclusive pending further investigation.

State child welfare investigators are looking into allegations of neglect against Yendoukoua’s mother and father, DCFS spokesman Andrew Flach said. The agency has not had prior contact with the family, and one other child has been allowed to stay in the household, Flach said.

Police are conducting a death investigation.
