A man was shot early Sunday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

About 2:15 a.m., the 22-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of West Jackson when he heard gunfire and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the lower back and an acquaintance dropped him off at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
