A man was shot in the head Sunday night in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened at 10:40 p.m. at 800 block of East Bowen Avenue inside a basement apartment, police said.

The suspect produced a handgun, fired shots and then fled the scene, police said.

The man, 29, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Jan Schakowsky, D-Il.
