A 29-year-old man was shot in the neck Monday afternoon in Washington Heights on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 4:10 p.m. in the 9700 block of South Parnell, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said.

An acquaintance took the man to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Lemmon said.
