A 29-year-old west suburban man died early Saturday after being shot in Berwyn.

Shortly after midnight, Juan Barrera was with some of his cousins at the Guadalajara Grill restaurant at 6814 W. Cermak Road, where they got into an argument with another group of people, according to Berwyn police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Barrera left with one of the people he was with, who drove east to the intersection of 21st Street and Harvey Avenue, where a shirtless gunman walked up and opened fire into the car, authorities said.

Barrera was shot in the chest. The person at the wheel kept driving east on 21st Street until the car stalled near 59th Avenue in Cicero, where they called for help, authorities said.

Emergency crews took Barrera to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1500 block of 51st Avenue in Cicero.
