Man shot to death in Kenwood

A man died early Monday after he was shot in the head Sunday night in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

Izzah Readus, 29, was shot inside a basement apartment in the 800 block of East Bowen Avenue about 10:40 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The suspect produced a handgun, fired shots and then fled the scene, police said.

Readus, who lived in the same block where he was shot, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:11 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
