SHARE Bridge lifts on Chicago River planned for Thursday

Drivers planning on crossing bridges over the Chicago River downtown Thursday may experience some delays due to bridge lifts.

The bridge lifts began at 10 a.m. at Lake Shore Drive and will proceed west to the Wells Street bridge, according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation.

The bridge lifts are to allow a heavy crane to be moved down the river, according to CDOT.

The process should be complete by noon.
