Commercial business burglaries reported in Rogers Park

Police are warning commercial businesses of a series of burglaries over the past month in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The burglaries occurred in:

• between 10:30 p.m. – 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8-Sept. 9 in the 1200 block of West Devon Avenue;
• between 3 a.m. – 3:45 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 6100 block of North Broadway Street;
• at 4:49 a.m. Sept. 14 in the 1400 block of West Morse Avenue.

In these incidents, the suspects threw a rock or brick through the front or side door or window to gain entry into the business. The suspects then pry open the cash register and stole cash, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

In one incident, the register was also taken, and in another incident a Plexiglas cabinet was forced open.

In the most recent incident, the suspect is described as a 35 to 40-year-old white man, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and 160 to 170 pounds wearing a blue shirt.
