A man charged with breaking into a home in southwest suburban Willowbrook and sexually assaulting and stabbing a 26-year-old woman has been ordered held on a $5 million bail.

Londale Madison, 31, wascharged with attempted murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, home invasion and armed robbery, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

About 1 p.m. Saturday, Madison forced his way into a woman’s home in the 700 block of 73rd Court in Willowbrook, beat and stabbed her multiple times, then sexually assaulted her, according to police and prosecutors.

The woman told detectives she was unloading her vehicle in the driveway when a car pulled up, and a man got out and asked for money. She refused and went inside, but the man came to a side door of the home and knocked, asking to use the phone, police said.

He then broke in and attacked her with “an unknown sharp object,” police said. The man later took off in the car.

After the attack, Madison returned to Indiana, where he lives in South Bend, prosecutors said. He was arrested there Tuesday without incident.

“This type of brazen, violent, unprovoked physical and sexual attack, as alleged in this case, is extremely disturbing and will be met with the full force of the law,” State’s attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Madison is being held in the St. Joseph County jail in South Bend, awaiting extradition to DuPage County. If convicted, he faces up to 120 years in prison.
