A man was killed and another wounded in a Saturday night shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The men, ages 27 and 34, were outside about 8:15 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Flournoy when they heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police. They ran into a nearby building and collapsed.

The younger man, later identified as Torrence Bearden of the 700 block of North Harding, was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He died there at 10:06 p.m. Sunday.

The older man was shot in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Investigators think the shooting was gang-related.
