An 18-year-old man was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. in the 5800 West block of Potomac Avenue, police said.

The victim was shot in the hip or back, and was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
