Five people were wounded — three of them critically — in a Thursday evening shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

About 7:45 p.m., the group was standing on a sidewalk in the 5100 block of South Morgan when they heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

A 29-year-old man shot in the back and both legs was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, as was a 28-year-old woman shot in the left hand, foot and thigh. A 27-year-old woman shot in the upper chest was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A 27-year-old man shot in both shins and a 32-year-old man grazed in the shoulder were also taken to Stroger. Their conditions stabilized, police said.

The men who were shot have documented gang ties, police said.
