Police are warning residents about a series of garage burglaries reported this month in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
In each of the break-ins, someone has entered garages and taken property in the area between Harlem to Cumberland avenues bordered by Irving Park Road and Belmont Avenue, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
The burglaries occurred:
- 3400 block of North Overhill Avenue between noon Sept. 1 and 10 a.m. Sept. 2;
- 3900 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue between 11:45 p.m. Sept. 15 and 5:20 a.m. Sept. 16;
- 3500 block of North Pioneer Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 16 and 9:15 a.m. Sept. 17; and
- 3300 block of North Oconto Avenue between 11 p.m. Sept. 16 and 6 a.m. Sept. 17.

The man, who apparently took his own life inside the building in the 4100 block of West Chicago Avenue had been the subject of more than 40 calls for service since January 2022, a police department source told the Sun-Times.
