SHARE Police: Burglars forcing way into postal vehicles in Chicago Lawn

Packages and mail are being stolen when one or more people break into parked postal vehicles around the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

A community alert from Chicago Police said on at least three occasions in the last two weeks, with the latest incident being Monday, a suspect or suspects force open the doors of unattended U.S. Postal Service vehicles and remove mail and packages.

Incidents occurred in:

— the 5300 block of West 64th Street on Sept. 14 at 12:40 p.m.;

— the 5400 block of South Sayre on Sept. 14 at 1:20 p.m.;

— the 7900 block of South Christiana on Sept. 22 at 12:30 p.m.; and

— the 6000 block of West 56th Street on Sept. 28 at noon.
