A 60-year-old man who was shot to death Wednesday night in the South Shore neighborhood has been identified.

Ira Washington was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the hallway of a building in the 6800 block of South Merrill shortly after  9 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Washington lived on the same block where he was shot, according to the medical examiner’s office.

A police source said the shooting might have been narcotics-related.
