A woman has been released without charges after the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man Friday morning in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
Officers responding to a call of a person stabbed about 8:40 a.m. at a home in the 12100 block of South Bishop found Joshua Dean unresponsive with a chest wound, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Dean was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:55 a.m., authorities said. An autopsy Saturday ruled his death a homicide.
Police said the attack was domestic-related. A woman was arrested at the scene, but police said Wednesday morning she had been released without charges.
A police source said the woman acted in self-defense, and there was a history of domestic violence between the couple.
