A 42-year-old man was shot by someone who tried to rob him Friday afternoon in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, according to Chicago Police.

The attack happened about 3:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of West 59th Street, police said.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the upper abdomen and forearm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
