Batavia police are searching for a man who accosted a 42-year-old woman in the lobby of her west suburban apartment complex early Friday and followed her to her front door where he physically assaulted her, she alleges.

The encounter happened when she came home about 4:45 a.m. to the apartment in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle, according to Batavia police.

The woman told police the man started a conversation and followed her to her door, where a “short struggle ensued,” police said.

He left when she fought back, police said. She wasn’t hurt.

He is described as a clean-shaven black man between 35 and 40 years old, wearing a black or navy coat and dark pants.

Anyone with information should call Batavia police at (630) 454-2500.
