A 17-year-old boy was shot Tuesday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 10:10 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Monroe, according to Chicago Police.

The teenager was shot in the abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

A police source said the victim is a documented gang member. The circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately available.
