Man shot in Evanston

A man was shot in north suburban Evanston Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of Mulford Street and Custer Avenue about 6:50 p.m., where they found a 24-year-old man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to a statement from Evanston police.

He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

The shooter, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, left the scene on foot, police said.
