A clerk shot two men who tried to rob a store Wednesday morning in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

The suspects walked into a store in the 2000 block of East 95th Street a few minutes after 11 a.m. and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

A man who works at the store shot them, police said. The suspects fled the scene and later walked into South Shore Hospital.

A 34-year-old man was shot in the left arm and groin, and a 24-year-old man was shot in the left arm and abdomen, police said. Both were transferred in serious condition to Stroger Hospital.

Charges are pending against the robbery suspects, police said. The employee who shot them is not expected to be charged.
