Chicago Police are warning residents of armed robberies in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

At least two armed robberies have been reported in the neighborhood since Jan. 1, according to a community alert from police.

The first robbery happened Jan. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 81st Street, and the second occurred Jan. 10 at 11:40 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Columbus Avenue, police said. In each robbery, a man approached a person on the street, displayed a handgun and demanded money and cell phones.

One of the robbers is described as a 6-foot, 18 to 21-year-old black man weighing 160-170 pounds, police said. The other robber is described as a black man, 27-30 years of age, standing 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 and weighing 170-180 pounds.
