A 22-year-old man was fatally shot during a drug deal Wednesday night near southwest suburban Lockport.
Deputies responded to shots fired in the 200 block of Barry Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township at 11:10 p.m. and found a man unresponsive in a front yard, according to a statement from the Will County sheriff’s office.
Dylan Somma, 22, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the statement.
Several witnesses were interviewed and it appears Somma, who lived in Romeoville, was in the area to purchase drugs when an altercation broke out and he was shot once in the chest, according to the statement.
No one is in custody as of Thursday morning. The sheriff’s office is investigating.
