PHOENIX — A teenage girl reported missing in McHenry County has been found shot in Phoenix, according to the police in the Arizona city, who say the man she was believed to be with has taken his own life.

Sgt. Vincent Lewis says the 16-year-old girl — whose name wasn’t released — was in extremely critical condition Saturday and not expected to survive.

Police were checking on a possible location for her and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Alexander O’Neill, Friday night when the shooting occurred.

According to Lewis, officers were speaking with O’Neill’s parents outside the door during the second visit when they heard shots and subsequently found the girl critically injured and O’Neill with a fatal, self-inflicted wound.
