A man was shot in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side Saturday night.

The 23-year-old man was sitting in the front passenger seat of a white four-door car in the 8200 block of South Lafayette Avenue at 10:10 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized, police said.
