A man grabbed a girl “in a sexually abusive manner” as she was walking to a McKinley Park neighborhood school on the South Side Thursday morning.

About 7:50 a.m., the girl and a friend were walking north on Paulina near 36th Street, heading to Evergreen Academy, located less than a block away. A man who was walking in the same direction on the same side of the street approached the two and grabbed her, according to a community alert issued by Chicago Police.

Afterward, the man walked away south on Paulina.

He was described as a Hispanic man, between 35 and 40 years old, standing 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, police said. He weighs 170 pounds, has a dark complexion and short, black and spiky hair with “a lot of gel,” police said. He has a round, chubby face with acne scars.

He was wearing black sunglasses, a green scarf, a light brown or khaki-colored coat that reached his knees and dark, shiny dress shoes, police said.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
