80-year-old man critically wounded in West Garfield Park hit-and-run

An 80-year-old man was critically wounded in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The man was struck by a vehicle in the 4000 block of West Congress at 8:23 a.m., according to Chicago Police. He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the 1800 block of South Karlov, about one-and-half miles away, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
