A man who was fatally struck by an inbound Metra train last week in northwest suburban Elgin has been identified.

The Milwaukee District/West Line train No. 2238 struck a man about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at Kimball Street, which is between the Big Timber station and Elgin Station, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.

The pedestrian was identified as 23-year-old Devon Colwell of Elgin, according to the Kane County coroner’s office. He was dead at the scene.

The coroner’s office is investigating along with Elgin and Metra police.
