$5K reward offered for man wanted in fatal Lockport shooting

Tariq J. Pinnick | Will County sheriff's office

A $5,000 reward was announced Thursday for information leading to the capture of a man wanted in connection with a murder last week near southwest suburban Lockport.

A $1 million first-degree murder warrant was issued last week for 19-year-old Tariq J. Pinnick for the shooting that happened about 11:15 p.m.on Jan. 13 in the 200 block of Barry Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.

Deputies responding to a call of shots fired found Dylan Somma unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest in the front yard of a home, sheriff’s police said. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives think Somma, a Romeoville resident, was in the area to buy drugs when he got into a fight with Pinnick, who shot him once in the chest, police said.

Pinnick’s home is on Riverview Avenue, about a block north of the scene of the shooting, police said. He hangs out in Lockport and Joliet, and was enrolled at Lewis University in Romeoville.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous, sheriff’s police said.

Crimestoppers of Will County announced a $5,000 cash reward will be paid to anyone who provides information leading to Pinnick’s capture. All calls and information will remain anonymous.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at (815) 727-8575. Anonymous tips can be left online at www.willcosheriff.org and www.crimestoppersofwillcounty.com.
