A man was shot Monday afternoon in the West Town neighborhood.

The 28-year-old was shot in the lower back by three males in the 1400 block of North Fairfield about 1:15 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Police said the shooting might be gang-related.

Shermain Sargent, 41, is accused of beating Timothy Ash, 74, on Jan. 7 in the 6400 block of South King Drive. Ash died Jan. 12 of injuries suffered from the assault, the medical examiner reported.
