A 56-year-old man was seriously injured Friday after he was shot by two people who tried to rob him in north suburban Waukegan.

About 8 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 500 block of Archer Avenue. They learned the shooting was the result of “an armed robbery gone badly,” according to a statement from Waukegan police.

The victim was getting out of his car when he was approached by two suspects who took his money, police said. The man was attempting to defend himself when he was shot multiple times. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

No clear description of the suspects was given.
