A 56-year-old man drove himself to a hospital after being shot Monday morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man was driving in the 500 block of South California at 10:19 a.m. when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
